Experience the beauty of Marco Island on Marco Pedalboat. We have taken several different cruises around the islands and this has been one of our favorites! We highly recommend this tour to our guests.

This company offers 1 1/2 hour and 2 hour cruises. The cost is affordable and under age 2 free. The ride is family friendly. The most popular of the tours is the 2 hour sunset cruise. We took this tour recently and saw a simply stunning sunset. The captain of the boat takes complimentary photos of the passengers to send by email. The quality of the photos are really good!

About the Marco Pedalboat

The Marco Pedalboat seats 16 people on comfortable “bar stools” and is a large pontoon style boat. We had the option of pedaling or not. The motor really doesn’t need one to pedal at all, but it is fun to try it out! Our captain encouraged us to try pedaling just to see how much speed we could develop to move the boat. Needless to say, we didn’t quite move the boat as fast as the motor!

The Marco Pedalboat travels about Isle of Capri and Marco Island. This is a truly fun trip and seeing the beauty of Marco Island from the water is an awesome experience. We were able to see some of the more interesting homes on Marco Island; in addition, the captain told us some interesting tales/facts about some of them. Some homes are just unusual or are/were owned by celebrities. Along the way, especially in the Marco River, we saw several dolphins. This was also the first time either Larry or I have seen Black Crowned Night Herons. These are nocturnal feeding herons that are often seen near sunset.

What to Bring – Enjoy the Music

Guests on the tour are encouraged to bring snacks and/or dinner, in addition to drinks to enjoy during the cruise. Iced coolers are provided on the boat. Having your favorite snack or beverage as the boat travels the Gulf waters makes a relaxing and fun trip. Upbeat music makes the boating experience even more fun! Music requests are honored with a wide variety play list.

The Sweet Liberty Catamaran https://www.sweetliberty.com operates out of Naples Dock in Naples, FL. It is the largest sailing catamaran in Southwest Florida. This 53′ vessel offers awesome sunset, shelling, and sightseeing tours. Sunset tours aboard Sweet Liberty Catamaran operate nightly and are a family friendly adventure. The tours leave from Naples Dock, located in Crayton Cove in Old Naples at 880 12th Ave. S, Naples. The first 30-40 minutes of the cruise are outgoing from the dock and proceed down the Gordon River, passing Port Royal. This route will pass some of Naples largest multimillion dollar homes and yachts. Once out in open water, it is delightful to watch the sails go up on this beautiful catamaran.

We encourage you to bring along a small cooler or picnic basket (beer/wine are welcome). On the outgoing route guests see mangroves, dolphin, and other wildlife. The evening hours also offer a quiet time to enjoy a nice glass of wine while enjoying the beautiful Gulf waters. Watching the sun sink below the horizon with tones of orange and pink skies is breath taking.

Beach Island Shelling Cruise

The beach Island Shelling cruise aboard the Sweet Liberty Catamaran leaves at 9:30 am and goes to Keewaydin Island. Keewaydin is a 7 mile barrier island with beautiful waters and is great for shelling. Guests will spend approximately 1 hour on Keewaydin, also known as Key Island for beach and shelling time.

Although I highly recommend this adventure for our guests at Sea Mar Condo, I must admit I have not worked up the courage to parasail myself.  However, several of our guests and friends have parasailed and loved it!  I love the idea that you can soar like a bird over the ocean and see all the beauty of the island…and not even get wet!

Parasailing begins on a powerboat. You enter the boat from the shoreline, alone or with a friend. After climbing onboard you harness up and take a seat at the back of the boat. The sail is let out, as the boat takes off and before you know it you are floating 300 feet above the water. All you have to do is sit comfortably in your harness, dangle your feet and relax while enjoying the breathtaking view.  You fly like a bird for approximately 10 minutes and then you are reeled back into the boat standing up.

Remember to Bring Your Camera!

Remember to bring along a camera. From several hundred feet up in the air you can hear only the wind gently blowing in your ears. Parasailing over Marco Island’s waters offer sights that are breath taking. The skyline of Marco Island is on one side and the never ending Gulf of Mexico on the other.

Note:  It is best to parasail on a calm day with little wind, and no chance of storms in the area.

Keewaydin is a special place. It is a sanctuary for wildlife. The island’s pristine beach is a vital nesting ground for least terns and loggerhead sea turtles. On the other hand, it is a recreational destination for local residents and tourists. One side of the island is usually lined with both recreational boats and those offering concessions. Thousands of boaters visit the island each year. At the same time, the other side of the island is quiet, pristine, and beautiful. Visiting Keewaydin provides a great opportunity to experience Florida’s natural coast.

Since 1980, the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve has worked with local partners to protect wildlife and habitat on the island. At the same time, the reserve strives to provide a wilderness recreation experience for people. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) purchased 85 percent of the 1,300-acre island. As managers of these state-owned lands, Rookery Bay Reserve removed 300 acres of non-native Australian pine, Brazilian pepper and melaleuca that had displaced much of the island’s native habitats and wildlife. The island hasn’t washed away as some predicted, but instead has flourished with native trees, plants and wildlife.

A little over 20 years ago, my husband came to me and said “Let’s go down to Marco Island this year”. He proceeded to tell me his brother and sister-in-law had been there prior and were wanting us to join them there this year for vacation.

I had never heard of Marco Island and didn’t even know what state it was in.  However, since it had “island” in the name,  I thought it must be on a beach somewhere. Since I love beach vacations,  I was easily persuaded to go along. (I also love my brother and sister-in law and loved the idea of vacationing with them).

One Thing Leads to Another

Needless to say, our first trip to Marco Island was a success. We feel in love with the island, the locals, the beaches and the many adventures that await visitors to the area. We left Marco planning our next vacation there! For the next 10 years or so, we found ourselves vacationing on Marco at least every other year. Each time we left wanting to return as soon as possible.

Then, we found ourselves thinking about purchasing a place there for retirement – or at least a place to go in retirement. We have both just retired, but we still do not get to spend as much time on Marco as we would like. However, we do get there 3 times a year. While we are not there, we rent our condos (Sea Mar Condo) https://seamarcondo.com out so others can enjoy the beauty of Marco Island and the comfort of our units. We love sharing our piece of paradise with others and want them to enjoy it as much as we do when we are there.

For those who prefer something other than seafood, the many restaurants on the island offer a wide variety of options. A lot of the restaurants on Marco also offer waterfront dining and live music. The Marco Island Princess offers a great dining experience on the water along with a sunset cruise.

Marco Island is family friendly and a great place to vacation with the younger ones. The island has two parks and a kid playground. There is also a miniature golf course. We recommend that our guests at Sea Mar Condo get the BIG picture! See 10,000 islands in a day from the water. Well, it’s called 10,000 islands, but it may not be quite that many, but probably close. This peaceful adventure awaits you with a backwater eco tour in Marco Island. The Gulf waters surrounding the island are home to dolphin, manatee, wading and nesting birds. It is a bountiful habitat to many species of wildlife.

There are many ways to see the backwaters surrounding Marco Island. Among them are kayaking, jet skiing, boating, parasailing, sailing, and paddle boarding. Most of the eco tours are guided tours that help you follow through the maze of mangrove islands with your guide pointing out the best opportunities to see the area wildlife.

Marco Island Beaches and Watersports

The island is small, covering 12 square miles. Although small, it has some of the country’s most beautiful white sandy beaches https://seamarcondo.com/testimonial/beaches-in-marco-island. The Gulf of Mexico waters are crystal blue and the skies are fluffed with white puffy clouds. The clear water is perfect for swimming, jet skiing, paddle boarding, or boating. Booking a deep sea fishing trip or shoreline fishing is always a favorite among visitors. Many boat charters offer tours to Keewaydin Island, Kice Island, or Cape Romano. Boat tours also are available for dolphin and manatee sightseeing excursions.

For an evening sunset cruise and dining experience, we recommend the Marco Island Princess. The sunsets are spectacular and the food is great!  Try the Key West Express leaving daily for round trips between Marco and Key West.

Golf/Sports

Most of the golf courses on the island are private. However, there are many courses located within 15 minutes that welcome visiting guests. Nearby Naples is known as for its many courses as well https://seamarcondo.com/golf-on-the-paradise-coast.

There are many gift shops and unique clothing shops located on the island.  A local Farmers Market is at Veterans Park each Wednesday during winter season.

Fifth Avenue South in Naples is a short 20 minute drive from Marco . This area offers many upscale clothing and gift shops. The area offers many nice dining selections. Of course, my favorite is Kilwin’s Ice Cream!

There are many restaurants serving fresh seafood, prime steaks, delicious Italian, and short order pizzas and burgers. In addition, many of the island’s restaurants offer waterfront dining and live music.

Snook Inn Marco Island

The World Famous Snook Inn located in Olde Marco and offers waterfront dining and live music nightly https://snookinn.com. The Marco Island Historic Museum is definitely worth a visit. We definitely suggest seeing the Key Marco Cat. It resides in a “special home” built just for the exhibit. The museum traces the history of the island from the Calusa Indian settlement through the explosive building phase in the early 60s to its modern day tourist destination.
